Most people arrive at my Christchurch photography studio carrying the hum of the outside world — the notifications, the deadlines, the small rehearsals we all do just to keep up. I see it in the way they hold their breath when they sit down, or the quick glance toward the mirror as if to check whether they look “ready.”

But headshot photography — at least the kind I believe in — isn’t about readiness. It’s about presence.
