A quiet look behind the scenes of how I create headshots and portraits — the process, the intention, and the small decisions that shape every image.
The Work Behind the Image
Photography is often judged by the final image — clean, polished, confident. But the real work happens long before the shutter clicks. My process is where everything begins: the planning, the lighting, the small adjustments in expression, the quiet moments where people settle into themselves.
Why Process Matters
After more than twenty years as a commercial photographer, process has become the heart of what I do. It’s how I keep my work consistent, natural, and evolving. It’s how I help people feel present in front of the camera — whether they’re a corporate team, a model building a portfolio, or someone simply wanting to look like themselves.
Slowing Down the Noise
Social media is great for quick snippets, but the pace of it swallows anything meaningful. Here, I want to slow things down. I want to share how images are made: the intention behind them, the choices, the setups, the small decisions that shape the final result. Not scripted content or filler — just real, practical insight into how I work.
A Studio Built for Calm
Having my own studio has changed a lot for me. It’s a calm, well-lit space where people can arrive, breathe, and settle. I still travel to workplaces and on-location shoots, but having a dedicated studio means I can create more consistently and give clients a relaxed experience from the moment they walk in.
People First, Always
I’m grateful to meet so many new faces each week. Helping people look confident, approachable, and professional — helping them feel that way — is still one of the best parts of what I do. And outside of client work, the studio gives me space to experiment with lighting and refine techniques that flow into every project I take on.
